Letter from the Director

Dear Friend,

Thank you for visiting the Healy-Murphy Child Development Center web page. The mission of every person on staff, from director to cook, is to help our children acquire the educational, emotional, social and physical tools necessary to succeed in school.

One of the priorities of the Healy-Murphy Center is educating pregnant and parenting teens. This is the reason that the Healy-Murphy Child Development Center was founded in 1972. Housed in a historic home on the corner of Nolan and Live Oak Street, it is easily accessible to the high school complex. Having childcare nearby has provided our young parents with a safe, nurturing and educational environment for their children during the school day.

Since we are committed to quality, consistent and knowledgeable care, most of our teachers must have their CDA (Child Development Associate) certification when hired or be willing to attend classes to attain it. We are committed to making exceptional care available to all children.

Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in our program, both through committee and classroom participation. During the school year we host a variety of fun activities for the children. Please visit our web page regularly to learn more about these activities.

We are grateful for the support of the San Antonio community and the many contributors who share in our accomplishments. It is through your support and commitment that, together, each child will receive a happy, healthy foundation for their lives.

Sincerely,

Shirley White
Director
